BrailleDoodle: Braille, STEM, and Art for Everyone!
The BrailleDoodle, created by The TouchPad Pro Foundation, is an innovative and affordable two-sided tablet designed to teach Braille and inspire tactile creativity. By using a magnetic stylus and small ball bearings, users can lift dots to form Braille characters or tactile graphics. With a simple press, the ball bearings reset, allowing for easy erasing. This feature enables learners to write, draw, explore, and revise effortlessly.
The device’s Braille learning side features “no-fail” practice areas for letters, numbers, common symbols, and sight words. Two rows of 19 Braille cells are included at the bottom, giving users the ability to write, read, and compose complete sentences. Designed for learners of all ages and skill levels, the BrailleDoodle uses proven multi-sensory teaching methods, making it possible for anyone to learn how to read and write Braille!
On the flip side, the Doodle surface is a blank canvas with 43x31 holes, (1,333 dots) perfect for creating custom tactile graphics. Whether drawing diagrams, teaching math or science, or creating art, the possibilities are endless. The BrailleDoodle includes two pre-designed stencils: one for crafting an "H" and drawing a house with trees, and another that overlays 84 Braille cells. An additional bonus stencil is also included! Optional stencil packs can be purchased for learning Math Braille, contractions, print letters, shapes, graphs, artistic designs, and even Braille in other languages.
